You can see the figure of Prince Siddharta as he begins his journey toward enlightenment at Bodhgaya. He meditated and fasted for forty-nine days, ultimately gaining complete control over his body and becoming Buddha. In this depiction, he is shown meditating while wild plants intertwine around him, symbolizing the wilderness (Arañña, meaning forest or jungle).
