Velocity explores how the urban landscape changes when experienced in motion. A road anchors the foreground while buildings, lights and architectural forms beyond it dissolve into softened blocks, circles and fragmented shapes. Inspired by the fleeting impressions seen while travelling through a city, Roucault reduces familiar structures to their essential colours, forms and rhythms.

Using oil for its depth, layering and expressive qualities, the artist combines Contemporary Expressionism with geometric and figurative abstraction. Detail gives way to perception, inviting the viewer to consider how speed transforms the way we see and remember our surroundings. Despite its sense of movement, the composition retains a surprising balance and calm.
